As I type this, I’m watching Gossip Girl. I’ve never seen it before and I have blown through the first two seasons in a very short amount of time. And guess what?!? Husband initiated it! He’s just the best, and has an eye for sleezy television. I’m so lucky.
I’m sure you’ve heard that Tangerine Tango is the color of the year. I’ve been trying to find subtle ways to work it into my home. I was at Ace Hardware the other day and it hit me. BOOM! Candles. I was thinking about dipping the bottoms in paint, but let’s be honest, I’m a dipping fool and it has to stop.
I decided to use some drawer liner in that sticky “Grip It” texture. Read on to see the full how-to.
To make your own you’ll need:
- Candles in assorted sizes (these are from Ikea)
- Grip It drawer liner (get this at the dollar store)
- scissors
- spray paint
- hot glue gun
Measure how much of the liner you’ll need by wrapping around the candle. Don’t forget to trim the top, too!
Start sprayin’, peeps.
Once the paint is dry, wrap the material around your candle and use hot glue to keep in place. And that’s it!
These add a little pop of color to anything you place them on. Now, go out and make your own! And if you’ll excuse me, I have to catch up on Chuck and Blair. Chuck and Blair!
**Happy Tuesday**
UPDATE – The candles have been lit and burning without any problems. The candles I chose are wide pillars and only burn through the center of the candle. They still look great! Hope that helps anyone that was on the fence about making and burning these. 🙂

My mom has a drawer of these liners! Like, not just one for the drawer–an entire stack! She uses them as placemats. ?? I’m gonna snag some and try this out. Although I don’t think they would be safe to actually use, right?

My candles have been lit all morning without any problems! I think the wider the pillar, the less the worry. No drip. No mess. Just prettyness. 🙂

Love this! Might try as a tea light cover as well for an outdoor dinner. Thanks!

Thanks, Jen! You should totally do these as tea light covers. Let me know how it works out!

Looks great, what happens to the liners when you light it?

Thanks, Natalie! The candles have been lit all morning without any problems. I don’t know if it’s because they’re from Ikea(?), but no wax is dripping down the sides. So far so good!!

Sounds great, I will def. give it a try 🙂 Thank you for sharing!
