Guuuyyss! Can I just tell you how happy I am that watermelon are all the rage? For as long as I have lived, the watermelon has been my favorite fruit. Kind of the only fruit I would eat as a child because I was picky and no fruit was good enough for my six-year-old standards. After admitting an addiction to hollowing out fruit and using them as serving bowls, I thought it only fitting to make the watermelon my next target. These DIY watermelon bowls are quite possibly the easiest thing you’ll ever make. In your life.
It’s just a party I tell you! Not only do these make cute bowls, but they also prevent you from having to do any real dishes. And isn’t that really what it’s about?
I refuse to eat a salad unless it has candied walnuts. Raise your hand if you’re with me!
Make Your Own DIY Watermelon Bowls
Simply pick up a handful of personal watermelons, slice them in half, and use an ice cream scoop to hollow them out.
Be careful not to tear through the melon flesh, but also get as much of the fruit out as you can. Save it for later! I’m currently snacking on a few mixing bowls full of watermelon as I type this sucker out!
Mix up your salads and place a portion in each bowl. And then watch as your guests (you’re having a party and will obvs carve a bunch of these bowls) freak out over their cuteness.
Lots of walnuts, mmmkay?
These bowls can be kept in the refrigerator for a few days so you can make a bunch beforehand. So that you can be all prepared and “with it”.
This is also one of those posts where I had a hard time weeding out photos. They were kind of all my fave. Soooo, I have nothing else to say about it. I don’t know what happened. I’m terrible at making decisions unless they’re about sugar.
So go. Go to the market and pick up a melon. “I carried a watermelon.” I couldn’t help it. Nobody puts baby in a corner. Check out some of our other hollowed fruit projects like these lemon sorbet bowls and these grapefruit yogurt bowls!
