Fonts. Fonts. Fonts. I love fonts. I also love cake, but that’s no surprise! I’ve been wanting to make up a special cake for the moms in my life and I’ve had this vision of typography cake toppers in the back of my mind for some time now.
Remember when I shared all about the Cricut Explore machine? And then I basically went quiet about it? Welp, to be honest, we moved and I totally forgot about the machine. It’s been sitting on my desk for months just glaring at me. And then I forgot about how easy it was to use and slowly became intimidated by it. Until earlier this week. I mustered up the courage to hit the power button and see what happens.
And what happens? Cake toppers. Magnificent typography cake toppers. It took me a little while to figure out (I am NOT computer savvy despite the fact that my life and job are online), but once I got it, it was smooth cutting sailing.

You certainly don’t need a Cricut Explore machine to make these simple toppers, but it made my life a heck-of-a-lot-easier by having everything cut in under 20 seconds. Once all the tags were cut, I peeled them off the cutting mat and hot glued them to some BBQ skewers. Make sure you soak the skewers in water first to avoid splitting wood!
