Heyo! I’m back from a lovely and lazy weekend in Crested Butte! I am 110% sure that I gained 6-7+ pounds. The majority of my itinerary was eating-related. There were truffle fries, ginormous pancakes that I don’t know the exact weight of, and ribs. And pizza. And wings. And chocolate. Oh my goodness. PS – there were specialty drinks, too! And I LOVE my specialty drinks.
The town is so small and beautiful and everyone is outdoorsy. There aren’t many cars. If you live there, you most likely bike to work, the store, the park, etc. Everybody bikes! And there are big bikes, little bikes, old bikes, and new bikes. (I’m sounding Dr. Seuss-esque, aren’t I? Oh well.) You couldn’t find a seat in this town because everyone sat on their bike. There were a few benches on the sides of the streets, but they were always right next to the bike racks. Seeing all these bikes made me question my choice of transportation. There were signs everywhere encouraging bike safety and what precautions to take before going out for your bike ride. After finding this useful resource we realised why this is so important! Although, we don’t have bikes right now. You can rent them up there for a pretty penny, but I’m too cheap too spend money on actual goods and not food. If I did have a bike, I think I’d want something like this:
It has a basket, so I can hold stuff. It’s blue, so I’ll be pretty. It’s a seven-speed, so I can be wild. And it’s Italian, so I’ll be in touch with my ancestors. 😉 It’s perfect, no? It’s a little pricey. It comes out to about 112 funnel cakes, so I’m really going to have to think about this one. What about you? Do you have a bike? Are you a cycling expert? If you didn’t need a car, what would your desired mode of transportation be?
The river was really low this year, so rafting wasn’t as intense as it has been in the past. We still enjoyed ourselves, but it was no Gauntlet. As promised, I instagrammed like crazy these last few days. Here are a few pics from my iPhone, Charlotte.
We played some games and went on some walks. We even hiked part of a mountain. We were 12,526 feet high and the air was mighty thin. Logan snapped a photo of me at the top, but I’ll spare you the pain of viewing it. I pert near collapsed, but I plowed through. It was a great trip that we look forward to every year, but I’m happy to be back and in the swing of things.
**Happy Tuesday**
