Hola! It’s Tuesday. Do you like marshmallows? Do you like caramel? Have you ever combined the two? My, oh my, it is delicious. My family used to make these ALL the time. They’re super easy and they are perfect for fall.
Ingredients: jumbo mallows, Rice Krispies, caramels, sweetened condensed milk, butter, walnuts (optional, but you’ll be sorry if you don’t get on the nut wagon)
Unwrap those lovelies and put them in a saucepan over medium-low heat.
Add the entire can of sweetened condensed milk.
Add 1/2 cup (one stick) of butter.
Stir occasionally while resisting the temptation to lick the spatula and lose a tongue.
Whilst the deliciousness is melting, combine the krispies and walnuts in a bowl. I use a little less krispies and a little more walnut. I like a high nut to cereal ratio.
Line a cookie sheet with some wax paper. And then have some toothpicks on hand.
Ohhhhhh look at that golden color. Is there anything better than butter and sweetened condensed milk? I submit there is not.
Form an assembly line that goes a lil’ somethin’ like this: toothpicks, marshmallows, cereal mixture, cookie sheet.
Stab one of the little suckers with a toothpick and dip it into the caramel like so…
Yummers. Don’t get your fingers in the caramel though because it will be HOT. For reals. You’ll get burned. I did.
After you’ve dipped, roll the mallow in the krispie/nut mixture.
And place on the cookie sheet.
And then count them like The Count from Sesame Street. One, ah, ah, ah.
Pretty soon you’ll have a whole army of nutty mallow goodness.
