You guys know that the craft world wouldn’t be complete if glitter didn’t exist. It always adds a little pizazz to whatever you may be working on. Today’s post comes from the talented Rachel of 52 Weeks Project. She shares one project every week all year long! The girl gots skill! Take it away, Rachel!
To make your own glittered clothespins you’ll need:
- clothespins
- thumb tacks
- glitter
- mod podge
- paint brush
- paint (optional)
- E-6000 glue
Although completely optional, I recommend you paint your clothespins with acrylic paint before starting this project. Your glitter wont cover the entire surface, so part of the wood will peak through. Â I used a light gold, which adds a bit a shimmer and subtle color on the visible areas.
Moving one section/color at a time, brush on a thick layer of mod podge then sprinkle on your glitter before the glue dries. You might need to use your finger to reposition the glitter over the blank spots if you use larger glitter. Shake off any excess.
Once both sections of the clothespin are covered in glitter, apply another layer of mod podge on top to seal. It will dry clear, so be generous!
When the top is dry, you’ll need to glue your thumb tack to the back. I used E-6000 glue for a stronger hold.
Clip on to your favorite photos, pin to a cork board, and enjoy!

Aww thanks Kelly! You definitely should pick up some of that magical glitter. Aside from it being pretty, it’s also very easy to clean and work with! Martha does it again 🙂

I aways shy away from glitter because of the mess, but this glitter looks like a great compromise. And what a great project to use it on!

Love this idea. Marthas glitter is so awesome! You could maybe do this idea with wooden hangers too, for a larger project!

Love this idea. I think I will try this but instead of tacks I can glue on magnet dots and hang them on the fridge. Cute project!

Oh my gosh these are perfect! I’m going to make a whole slew of these when I finally get around to painting and/or fabric-ing the cork boards I recently purchased.
