I am not fashionable by any means, but I love giving gifts to fashionable people. It’s fun to plan and pick out items specific to each recipient. Even better? Wrapping it all up in some cutie-fruitie-tootie gift wrap.
Don’t feel bad if you don’t have the time or confidence (or desire!) to create something handmade for your beloved moms this Mother’s Day. Things fill up your schedule. Important things. And it’s hard to carve out time to whip up something from scratch. It doesn’t have to be handmade to be heartfelt. That’s exactly the rule I’m following this Mother’s Day. Luckily, the two ladies I plan on giving these specific gifts to don’t really read this here blog or follow me on Instagram. So they will still be surprised when I show up with these presents on Sunday!
I’ve whipped up two small gift guides that are simple, sweet, and just the ticket for that classy mom and/or sister or friend of yours. Of course, if you’re a mom too (it can be to a dog! I’m not judging! I was a mom to Tagg the pup for five years before Vita-roo came into our lives.), feel free to give these to yourself! You deserve a present as much as anyone!
Read on to see how we pamper moms and to see how to make some cut-out gift boxes!
Gift Guide Numero Uno:
This is a classy gift for that classy mom that raised you right. To me, white just screams elegance. I may not be able to wear it because I have the ability to keep it clean as much as a dog does, but I dream of wearing it one day! Pair this embellished top with some minty jewelry and some bangin’ green sandals and your mom will be all like “check me out, woodland creatures”. Because that’s what moms say. Throw a little nailpolish in there fo’ fun.

Gift Guide Numero Dos:
This is a gift for a friend who is a sister who also happens to be a mom. Extra points if this gift goes to a new mom as they’re the ones that need extra lovin’! The stripey dress is a little more hip and black makes anyone look chic. (And slim! Raise your hand if the majority of your wardrobe is black and/or grey!) I’m throwin’ in some cool shades to hide those tired eyes, a simple and pretty gold necklace, and sandals!

Give me nail polish or give me death.
Now, we’re at the best part and my FAVORITE part of the art of gifting. The wrapping. I could admire wrapped gifts all day long. Give me an empty box, but if it’s wrapped pretty, I’ll cherish it forev.
As much as I love gift giving though, I’m caught up in my busy life from time to time and can’t always get the gift together that I want. Thankfully a friend recommended a great website for Condolence Gifts & Gift Ideas and I can’t recommend it more. The people at GiftTree have been so helpful.
Make these polka dot cut-out and monogram cut-out gift boxes by drawing small circles or large letters on the top of the box with pencil! Take an Xacto knife and cut the designs out carefully.
Wrap your gifts in colorful tissue paper. Place them in the box. Lid it. And admire it. So easy, right? Attach woodburned wooden gift tags, but ONLY if you’re feeling like over-achieving.
There are so many ways to celebrate moms this Mother’s Day and these are just a few suggestions. If you’re thinking of something to get me, just give me a pack of Diet Coke and we’re good. Wink. Wink.
