I was talking to Logan the other day. (This is usually how most of my stories begin.) Anyway, I was talking to him and asked him which of the five senses he would give up if he had to. He said that he would relinquish his ability to smell. And then he proceeded to tell me “how the other 3 senses are more important”. Sooooooo, I’m not really going to take his answer into account.
A favorite holiday scent of mine would have to be that of Douglas Fir & Pine. Something about the fresh cut pine needles just sucks me in. Every holiday season, I search the shops for candles with a scent like this. And when I find it, I buy about 6-8. I’m not kidding. I burn through these babies like it’s my job. Glade’s Sparkling Spruce happens to match my ideal holiday scent. So it works!
I’m a firm believer in the power of scent. For instance, the smell of Coconut Lime Verbena anything takes me back to my sophomore year in high school. Showing my age? Smells trigger memories (hopefully mostly happy ones!), and I feel like every room needs a candle. I’ve partnered with Glade to share a simple way to decorate with candles at home!
A cinnamon stick coaster is a ridiculously easy way to bring the festive holiday decor into the home without going over-the-top. And when have I ever gone over-the-top? 😉 levaquin 750mg
To make your own, just simply hot glue several sticks together. It’s like a making a miniature cinnamon stick raft that won’t float. Place your candles on them and enjoy the smellories (smell+memories) that come your way.
You can also give your candles an instant facelift by writing some holiday phrases and words on the glass with a gold paint pen. Writing out the word “merry” is my favorite because it makes it easy to look like a calligrapher waltzed in and wrote all over your candles. Lasix 40mg
You can also keep up with all the holiday happenings with Glade by following them over on their new Pinterest account! I’m curious. Would you give up one of the five senses if you had to? Which would it be? Do you have a favorite scent that connects with a favorite memory? Do tell.

You might remind Logan that sense of smell and sense of taste are pretty intertwined. People who have lost their sense of smell have reported that they can’t really taste anything anymore either. 😉 I personally would give up touch before I’d give up smell and taste!

Cinnamon sticks are like the ultimate holiday accessory in my house! My favorite thing to do is pot a few in a pot with 2 inches of water and cook it on low. I have it running all day long, it makes my house smell wonderful!
