Carnations are underrated. They really are. While they’re not my FAVORITE flower (lookin’ at you peonies, ranunculas, and garden roses), they are one of the most versatile and long-lasting. Not to mention the cost! Holy cheap! If you are planning a little get together and are wanting to incorporate some flowers, use carnations! You can use a lot of them and when you pick the right colors, they’re just gorgeous. These carnation chair garlands are the easiest floral project out there. Not joking. Let’s make some, mmmkay? To make your own you’ll need:
- 7-10 carnations per garland
- embroidery or waxed thread
- embroidery needle
- scissors
- floral shears
Using the floral shears, snip the base of each carnation to cut off the stem. Thread the embroidery needle and carefully thread each carnation together. Start at the top and push the needle down through the petals and carefully pull it through each carnation base. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.
That’s it. No need to tie a knot! The carnations will stay put.
Give each garland a lot of thread slack on each end and tie these beauties to your chairs! They’ll last for days, my friends. Definitely getting your money’s worth, I’d say!

So pretty. I really love the lattice backdrop too! I’m going to do that for a bridal shower next weekend. I couldn’t agree more about carnations being underrated. They’re so beautiful when they’re layered in several colors, and in addition to being so affordable to begin with, they last so long as cut flowers!
