Baby Girl Ward was born recently (view pics of the cutie here!), so while I’m out learning how to raise this tiny human, I’ve asked some amazeballs bloggers to visit! Halloween is one of my very favorite holidays, but I’ve never been a fan of scary Halloween stuff. Horror movies and haunted houses just don’t do it for me. In fact, I think they’re terrifying, and I stay as far away from them as I possibly can! Instead of scary Halloween decor, I vote for cute and simple. These giant fuzzy spiders are fun to make (pom-poms!) and add the perfect spooky-cute touch to the dinner table!
Supplies:
- black yarn + 1 piece that is about 12″ long
- black pipe cleaners
- good scissors
Steps:
1. Hold one hand out, and using the other hand, wrap black yarn around your fingers 100 times. Carefully slide the yarn off your fingers, and lay in across the middle of the 12″ piece of string. Very gently, push 4 black pipe cleaners through the middle of the bunch of yarn until they are centered on it.
2. Using the 12″ piece of yarn, cinch the yarn/pipe cleaner bunch around the middle and tie a tight knot. The pipe cleaners might be crooked at this point, but just ignore that for now. It won’t matter at all in a minute!
3. Use the scissors to carefully cut all of the loops of yarn. Don’t trim the two long pieces you used to cinch it, and don’t cut the pipe cleaners. What you’ll have when you’re done with this step is a very shaggy, uneven pom pom, aka, a spider body.
4. Use the scissors to very carefully trim and shape the pom pom into a sphere. Again, don’t trim the two long pieces and don’t trim the pipe cleaners.
5. When you like the shape of the pom pom, bend each pipe cleaner up and then back down to look like a spider’s leg.
6. Use those two long pieces of yarn that you carefully protected to tie the spider around a rolled napkin. Reposition the spider legs and fluff the body as needed.
