So it has forever been a dream of mine to have a fireplace (faux or real) in my own home. We’ve tried and failed to create stand-ins through the years and I just decided that things would be different in our new house with our new lives here in Arizona. While the need for a real fireplace might not be practical here with this desert heat, I was never really going for warmth. I just wanted something to complete our living room and to be able to style with art and accessories. I mean, we are going into the holiday season and I am gonna need a place to hang the stockings, y’all. We partnered with The Home Depot to create this DIY faux fireplace and I could not love it more! Like, all my mantle-lovin’ dreams came true right here.
I’m totally bragging and will say that Logan and I built this guy from nothing. Really truly. There was nothing in that space in our home except a tv. And now it’s all fancy and filled with cactus like we like it here in the desert! You can see our entire 3-day process over on The Home Depot blog right here!
And now, I’m taking a poll – cactus in the tiled “firebox”? Yay or Nay. I’m kind of in love with the idea. And we’ve trained Vita to know that these are “pokey” and to never touch! That girl has the biggest brain… 😉
