Welp, it’s Tuesday the 2nd, and you know what that means… It’s time to unveil your projects! I’ve been so excited about this one because it’s perfect for an upcoming shower some friends and I are throwing! I love lanterns, and I love paper crafts. So when I saw these beauties below, I HAD to add them to my to-do list.
Now, the ones Martha made are hung by a string of LED lights. Those were too expensive for me, PLUS I will be using these during the daytime so I added some Tulle instead. I luuurrrrvvvveeee them!
Now, I have a little tut for ya’ll. It’s pretty basic, so there are just a couple of photos. You’ll notice that the blue and orange ones are not as perfect as the green one. I started the blue and orange first and was a bit impatient, but had it down to a science by the time the green one came ‘round.
Supplies: paper lantern, double-sided tape, tissue paper circles, and a Diet Coke or some other delicious beverage.
Take a piece of the double-sided tape and attach it to one of the tissue circles and then press it to the lantern like so. I started at the bottom and then worked my way to the top. In the pic below, you’ll see that the lantern is upside down.
Take another piece of tape and another circle and then layer it over the other a little bit.
After you make one full round, just keep taping and layering and working up to the top of the lantern.
Just keep layering and taping.
And taping and layering.
Take a little break for some Diet Cola and a little Bachelorette review.
Once you are at the top of the lantern, just layer the paper circles enough to cover the edge. Don’t cover the hole because you will need to attach the tulle to the wire hanger when you are finished.
And voila! A super cute paper lantern that adds some glam to any event. These are seriously my new favorite thing. I’m hooked!
Okay, so I want to see what everyone else created! There are a couple of ways to share with The Proper Pinwheel. If you clicked through to read JUST this specific post, you can comment at the bottom. Please share a link to your blog or other site if you can! Or you can just tell me what you made! You can also click the “ask” button on The Proper Pinwheel’s homepage and share your goodies there. I know this site is a little hard to navigate and we are working on that as we type. 🙂
This was a super fun challenge and I am so grateful to these ladies for inspiring me!
